  • Flodesk, the design-first email marketing platform used by more than 100,000 small businesses and creators, has reported record growth, surpassing $36 million in annual recurring revenue and generating more than $33 million in revenue for its members.

Over the past year alone, Flodesk users sent more than 13 billion emails and added 314 million new subscribers to their audiences, underscoring the platform’s growing role in an increasingly crowded digital landscape.

As inboxes fill and brands compete for attention, Flodesk has positioned design as a performance lever. The platform enables entrepreneurs to create polished, on-brand emails without the need for designers, developers or large marketing teams. At a time when personal branding and visual identity are becoming critical differentiators, Flodesk is helping its members translate creativity directly into revenue.

Bootstrapped since its launch in 2019, the company has become one of the fastest-growing platforms in its category, expanding alongside the entrepreneurs and small businesses it serves. Its customers include food writer Michelle Tam, Miss Excel founder Kat Norton and The Everygirl media group. While many small businesses remain dependent on social platforms they do not control, where reach can shift overnight, email remains a channel they truly own. Yet traditional email tools are often either overly technical or visually generic. Flodesk has sought to close that gap by making professional-quality design both effortless and accessible.

Building on this foundation, the company is now introducing AI-powered design and marketing capabilities that position the platform as a creative partner rather than a simple tool. Its new email builder combines agentic chat-based editing with precise manual controls, allowing users to generate on-brand emails in seconds and then refine layout, typography and content to reflect their individual voice. Unlike template-driven AI tools, Flodesk’s proprietary design system is directly integrated with its AI models, enabling the technology to behave more like a personal brand designer.

As part of this next phase, co-founder Rebecca Shostak has been appointed chief executive, with co-founder Martha Bitar moving into the role of executive chair.

“I’m incredibly honoured to lead Flodesk into its next chapter,” Shostak said. “Our mission has always been to help small businesses succeed by expressing what makes them unique. With our new agentic email builder, we’re giving our members a creative partner that saves time, supports deeper creative flow and brings their brand to life exactly as they envision it.”

A designer and product visionary, Shostak has shaped Flodesk’s signature experience through years of building tools for entrepreneurs and creators. Her emphasis on simplicity, design integrity and human-centred innovation has helped drive the company’s rapid growth.

Flodesk says its patented design technology delivers measurable results. Emails created on the platform achieve open rates 17 per cent higher than the industry average, opt-in forms perform twice as well as standard benchmarks, and design-led campaigns can generate up to 200 per cent more conversions.

Looking ahead, the company plans to extend its AI-driven design system beyond email, developing new marketing tools that allow small businesses and creators to share their work across multiple digital formats. The aim is to reduce reliance on fragmented tools and bring brand, marketing and sales into a single, design-forward platform—helping entrepreneurs build cohesive campaigns, reach audiences and monetise their work more effectively.
