Joby Aviation Signs Pact with Dubai’s RTA

  • Joby Aviation has signed an agreement with Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) to introduce air taxi services in the UAE by early 2026, with plans for initial operations as early as 2025. 

    Joby Aviation’s Founder and CEO, JoeBen Bevirt, said, “Today’s landmark agreement delivers on all three ingredients required to successfully launch an air taxi service—a definitive path to operations, well-placed infrastructure supported by dedicated partners, and an aircraft with the capacity and range to deliver meaningful journeys.” 

    HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors for RTA, noted that the air taxi service aligns with RTA’s vision to embrace future transportation technologies, providing novel and efficient mobility solutions for Dubai’s residents and visitors. “This service will also enhance seamless multimodal transportation, improving citywide connectivity, and ensuring a smooth travel experience for passengers,” he added. 

    The partnership aims to position Dubai as a global leader in providing rapid, eco-friendly, and low-noise air travel facilitated by the developer’s innovative technology. The agreement, signed on the sidelines of the World Governments Summit held in Dubai, grants Joby Aviation exclusive rights to operate air taxis in Dubai for six years.
